How can I join Phi Kappa Phi?
Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is by invitation only. Invitations are emailed to eligible students during the winter semester each year. To join, invited students should follow the application instructions inside the invitation and submit the required information and fees. After verification, invitees will be initiated during a ceremony on-campus.
What are the eligibility requirements to be invited?
The University of Michigan Office of the Registrar provides the society the list of eligible students. The following students are eligible to receive invitations to join:
Top 7.5% of juniors, who have completed at least 72 credit hours, with at least 24 semester hours at UM.
Top 10% of seniors, who have completed at least 90 credit hours, with at least 24 semester hours at UM.
Top 10% of graduate students, who have completed at least 18 graduate hours or the equivalent at UM.
Faculty, professional staff and alumni who achieve scholarly distinction may also be eligible.
What can I do if I misplaced my invite?
If a student misplaces the email invitation to join the society, they should write to umpkpquestions@umich.edu to request another invitation as soon as possible.
What if I missed the deadline?
Any student who wishes to accept an invitation to join the society must do so during the academic year of invitation. Invitees who miss the application deadline should contact the local chapter at umpkpquestions@umich.edu prior to the beginning of the following fall semester to be considered. Invitees do not need to be enrolled at the time of accepting the invitation, however, acceptance should occur during the same year.
